Gene is admitted to practice before all state courts in Texas; the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of Texas; the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He has successfully tried numerous cases to verdict in the Texas state and federal trial courts. He is also a board-certified appellate attorney and has been involved in appeals at various levels in both the Texas state and federal appellate courts. He is a certified mediator and arbitrator and has participated in numerous mediations and arbitrations.

Gene is a frequent author and lecturer on various business and insurance coverage-related topics, and he has served as a member of the Governing Council of the Insurance Section of the State Bar of Texas.
