Gene has represented a vast array of companies in various litigation and transactional matters over the past thirty years. He has extensive experience in handling business-related disputes. He also acts as outside general counsel for various businesses and organizations. He is a certified mediator and has participated in numerous mediations and arbitrations.

Gene is admitted to practice before all state courts in Texas and New Mexico, the United States District Courts for the Southern Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He has successfully tried numerous cases to verdict in the Texas state and federal trial courts. He is also a board-certified appellate attorney, who has been involved in numerous appeals in both the Texas state and federal appellate courts.

More particularly, Gene has extensive experience in handling various disputes for oil and gas-related companies (particularly upstream and midstream companies). He also has extensive experience representing domestic and foreign insurance companies and policyholders in regard to matters involving complex insurance coverage issues (including those dealing with environmental, construction and business practices). He has been a frequent author and lecturer on various business and insurance coverage-related topics, and he has served as a member of the Governing Council of the Insurance Section of the State Bar of Texas. Gene has been awarded the highest possible rating of “AV®” by Martindale-Hubbell, the preeminent, national directory of attorneys.
